(seafood.vasep.com.vn) On April 26, 2022, the 28th Seafood Expo Global officially kicked off at Fira Gran Via Exhibition Center, Barcelona City, Spain, marking the return and revitalization of the Fisheries industry after 2 years of stagnation due to the Covid-19 epidemic. With the desire to create a stronger foundation for the world fisheries community, the Organizing Committee of the Seafood Expo Global has decided to move the annual venue from Brussels, Belgium to Barcelona, Spain. The first global seafood exhibition in Barcelona will take place in 3 days from April 26-28, 2022, promising to be a catalyst event for the seafood community around the world to meet and trade, as well as look for business opportunities in this field.
The 28th Seafood Expo Global brings together more than 20,000 exhibitions from 85 countries and regions, expected to attract more than 29,000 visitors, fisheries import and export companies, fisheries experts from 140 countries around the world, from processing, cultivation, fishing to auxiliary industries such as machinery, equipment, services, additives... It also boasts the presence of 78 stalls representing 78 different countries.
Participating in the Seafood Expo Global 2022, the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) has registered an area of 304m2 and staged it into the Vietnamese national stall. The stall is divided into 2 areas, namely a private space with a total area of 160 m2 and a common space with an area of 144m2. Attending the Seafood Expo Global 2022, there are a total of 28 processing and export companies in Vietnam's national stall, including 9 shrimp processing companies, 7 pangasius processing companies, 4 tuna processing companies, and 8 companies processing aquatic products in general. In addition, there are a number of enterprises participating in the exhibition independently, and some participating in surveys, exploration, and market evaluation activities within the fair.
The key products displayed at the exhibition include pangasius, shrimp, tuna, tilapia, clams, squid, octopus, dry seafood, value-added products, and mixed food.
In 2021, Vietnam's seafood exports to the EU reached over 1 billion USD, increasing by 12.3% compared to 2020. All the key export items of Vietnam's seafood to the EU market grow strongly despite the situation, although the global landscape has many fluctuations, directly and indirectly, affecting Vietnam's seafood export. It can be seen that the EU has long been one of the leading markets of Vietnamese seafood from the beginning to this day, so the maintenance of the presence of Vietnamese seafood in the Seafood Expo Global is always a top priority.
The motto of Vietnamese seafood throughout the international fairs 2022 continues to be "Vietnam - the home of Asian fisheries" to convey the diversity in the Vietnamese portfolio of seafood products. After 2 years of delay, the number of visitors to the global seafood exhibition 2022 increased sharply again, igniting a strong growth expectation for the fisheries industry in the near future.
Mr. Vu Chien Thang - Vietnam Commercial Counsellor in Spain, and Mr. Tran Van Cong - Agricultural Counsellor in Europe, have visited Vietnamese fisheries businesses as well as exchanged information and grasped the situation of exporting aquatic brings to Vietnam. At the booth, the Counsellors talked to Mr. Nguyen Hoai Nam - Deputy General Secretary of VASEP and businesses participating in Vietnamese booths to exchange information about Vietnam's seafood export situation as well as the export outlook to the European market in the near future.
As part of the fair, the VASEP Association organizes promotional and propaganda activities, paying special attention to two key items of Vietnam, namely shrimp and pangasius, through the distribution of propaganda and promotion publications. In addition, in order to continue promoting Vietnamese seafood items to other fair visitors, the Association coordinates the introduction of dishes made from aquatic products made by foreign chefs at the booth. This is one of the effective promotion activities that has always attracted the attention of visitors and has been included in our agenda for the international exhibition fairs in recent years.
At this global seafood exhibition, a representative from Vietnam Trading Office in Spain attended the fair to meet, encourage and exchange information with the enterprises.
