Japan is currently Vietnam's second largest single cephalopod export market, accounting for 21%.

In particular, the marine products accounted for a dominant proportion with 42% and an outstanding growth of 11% with a turnover of 728 million USD, surpassing shrimp (661 million USD, up by 5%) and pangasius (331 million USD, up by 3%).

In the midst of the Covid-19 epidemic, Vietnam's tuna exports to Canada in the first 11 months of 2020 still increased by 25% over the same period. The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), effective from January 14, 2019, has created leverage for tuna exports to this market.
