Vietnam seafood exports in 2021

In the first eight months of the year, marine product exports reached $2.1 billion, accounting for 38% of the country's total seafood export value and up 7% over the same period in 2020.

In the first 7 months of the year, exports to the US still maintained the highest growth rate of 36%, to the EU increased by 19%, the CPTPP increased by 10%, while exports to China decreased by over 10%.

However, in the midst of difficulties, seafood enterprises have made efforts and flexibility to stabilize production, maintain supply, and take advantage of opportunities of markets to boost their sales abroad.

By the end of June 2021, the total export value of pangasius reached 780.9 million USD, up 17% over the same period last year. This positive result brings optimism to Vietnamese pangasius exporters.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to Vietnam Customs statistics, in the first 6 months of this year, Vietnam's seafood exports to the EU market grew 20% to over US$486 million, of which, exports of marine products soared 24% reached 154 million USD (accounting for 32%), aquaculture exports increased by 18% to 333 million USD (taking 68%).

Accordingly, the cumulative export results in the first 5 months of the year were also better, up 14% to reach USD 3.27 billion.

In 2020 and the first 2 months of 2021, due to the impact of Covid, the supply chain is disrupted, especially in the logistics segment, Vietnam's seafood exports have declined or slowed down at times. From March 2021, Vietnam's seafood export started to recover markedly with a growth of 17% over the same period. In April, exports broke out more strongly with a growth of nearly 30% to nearly 800 million USD.
