Vietnam's bivalve mollusk exports to the EU in the first six months of this year reached $36.9 million, up 35 percent over the same period last year. If in the first quarter of this year, the export of this item to the EU only grew by 11%, in the second quarter of this year, the turnover of this item increased by 56% compared to the same period last year. Bivalve molluscs exports to the EU continuously grew by double digits in all months of the second quarter of this year.

Bivalve molluscs exports to the EU in the first half of this year grew well because these are ready-made, convenient products during the epidemic season and reasonable prices. Processing and exporting this product of Vietnam have available domestic raw materials without having to depend on imports.

In the first 6 months of this year, among EU member countries, Italy, Spain and Portugal are the three main single markets importing bivalve molluscs from Vietnam, accounting for 21%, 17% and 12%, respectively. respectively, reaching a value of USD 13 million, USD 10 million and USD 7 million, up 19-76% over the same period last year.

In the structure of Vietnam's bivalve mollusc products exported to the EU, clam accounts for the highest proportion, accounting for nearly 70% of the value, including products such as boiled, steamed, whole brown clam, white clam, silk clam. Steamed and boiled clam products are exported to the EU the most.

The average export price of frozen boiled white clam size 100/120 to the markets of Portugal, Spain and Italy is in the range of 1.30-1.43 USD/kg; frozen boiled white clam size 120/150 exported to Italy with an average price of 1.37 USD/kg; Frozen boiled white clam size 40/60 to Portugal, Spain costs 1.53-1.96 USD/kg; Frozen boiled brown clam size 40/60 to Portugal, Spain, Italy cost 1.45-2.50 USD/kg; Frozen boiled brown clam size 60/80 to Portugal, Spain, Italy costs 1.55-2.46 USD/kg.
