Global prices plunge lowers shrimp export in Q1/2015
(vasep.com.vn) Shrimp import demand from major markets fell and shrimp prices dived. Volatility in currencies exchange rate against the USD significantly shrimp export. As a consequence, Vietnam shrimp export in Q1/ 2015 plummeted.
Shrimp exports is expected to reach the highest recorded value, at over US$ 4 billion, up 25% year on year and is the seafood export item with the highest growth rate.
Pangasius exports in 2014 is estimated at approximately US$ 1.8 billion, up 0.2% from 2013.
In the first 9 months of 2014, tuna exporters and processors continued facing with the lack of materials. Tuna output in 9 months was 13 thousand MT, down 3% year on year.
Total surimi export value of Vietnam to countries in 9 months reached over US$ 206 million, up nearly 31% year on year.
